8th annual TRI-City Holiday Food Drive
Posted Date:

The tri-city holiday food drive is underway again. Check here for information for this great opportunity to help out our neighbors.

The 8th Annual Tri-City Holiday Food Drive is currently underway and will be ending on January 5th, 2018. This is the eighth year that Weldon Spring and the cities of Dardenne Prairie and Cottleville challenge each other in the annual food drive. Entering into the holiday season last year we were pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the Weldon Spring community. We are pleased to know that we can count on an even larger amount of donations this year. We are looking for non-perishable food items and toiletries; such as cereal, dry pasta, sauce, canned goods, baby diapers, toothpaste, shampoo, cleaning items, etc. All of the items collected in Weldon Spring will go to Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service. It is the largest social services provider for individuals, families and children in the Tri-county area of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to “Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service”.

On the same note of “Giving”, we would also like to let you know that the City will also be collecting items for our four-legged friends once again this holiday season. These donations will go to “Five Acres Animal Shelter” formally known as the St. Charles Humane Society. This is the only “No-Kill” shelter in St. Charles County and relies on private donations in order to operate. They can use Purina Dog and puppy food as well as kitten chow. New and gently used towels and blankets, beds and collars and leashes are also welcome and would be appreciated. Bleach and paper towels and trash bags are another welcome item as well as gift cards to PetCo and PetsMart. And as with the food drive, if you would rather make a monetary gift, please make checks payable to “Five Acres Animal Shelter”.

As in the past, there will be a donation box inside of the City Hall lobby which is open Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM and a drop off box on the front porch of City Hall for weekend donations.

We would like to share and spread the wealth. Please take time to consider those less fortunate and donate what you can this fast-approaching holiday season. Teach your children that it’s all about GIVING, not necessarily RECEIVING. Thank you!
